Cookie Policy
Last updated: 20 July 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how OncoLinks uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read with our Privacy Policy. Under Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019, information that can identify you (including some cookie identifiers combined with other data) may be personal data. We aim for transparency and, where required, informed consent for non-essential cookies.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixels. They help websites remember preferences, keep you signed in, or understand how the service is used.
2. How we use cookies
- Strictly necessary: authentication session continuity, security, load balancing, and fraud prevention. These are required for the service to function.
- Functional: remembering UI preferences (for example collapsed sidebars) where implemented.
- Analytics / performance (if enabled later): understanding aggregate traffic to improve OncoLinks. We will not use non-essential analytics cookies without a clear opt-in where consent is required.
- Marketing cookies are not a core part of OncoLinks today; if introduced, they will be optional and disclosed.
3. Third-party cookies
Authentication and backend services (for example Firebase / Google) may set cookies or use local storage needed to keep you signed in and protect accounts. Their processing is described in their privacy documentation and our Privacy Policy (processors).
4. Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings (block, delete, or alert on cookies). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent sign-in or core features from working. Where we deploy a consent banner for optional cookies, you can change your choice later via site settings or by clearing cookies.
5. Retention
Session cookies typically expire when you close the browser or after a short period. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them. We keep cookie-derived logs only as long as needed for security and service integrity.
6. Your rights
Cookie-related personal data is covered by the same data-subject rights described in our Privacy Policy, including access, objection, and complaints to the ODPC (odpc.go.ke).
7. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when our technologies or legal requirements change. Check the “Last updated” date for the latest version.
